About

A fifth-generation Californian, and third-generation local to Santa Cruz, Michael has resided in Northern California all of his life. He makes his home in Santa Cruz, along the Monterey Peninsula, with his family. Michael is an avid traveler, and always looking to embark on a new adventure with his husband.

Bois holds an Associate of Arts degree from Cabrillo College, where he studied traditional Black & White film and darkroom processes. While at Cabrillo, he spent a brief period of time experimenting with alternative processes, which continues with him through his color double exposures. Additionally, Bois holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from San Jose State University.

Michael’s primary cameras include a Mamiya C33 and a Calumet CC-400 4x5 view camera. For his color double exposure photographs, he relies upon a "modified" Holga. On occasion, he will use a 35mm Canon AE-1 or Rolleiflex 2,8F inherited from his grandfather. Michael primarily uses Photoworks San Francisco for film development and Bay Photo Lab for printing.
